We built Hooked because nobody knew who was single.
Two MBA students who realized people go to events hoping to meet someone, but rarely actually do.
We met during our MBA program and spent a lot of time going to social events, parties, networking nights, weddings, bars, and conferences. Everywhere we went, we noticed the exact same thing.
There were so many single people in the room who genuinely wanted to meet someone. But nobody knew who was actually single.
People would lock eyes across the room, hesitate to walk over, second-guess themselves, and then never make a move. Most people were scared of being rejected, interrupting someone, or simply misreading the situation. So instead of meeting in real life, everyone stayed in their own circle or went back home to dating apps.
It felt strange to us.
Thousands of people spend money and time going out to events hoping to meet someone naturally, yet almost nobody actually does β because there's no social layer that makes it easier.
That became the idea behind Hooked.
We built Hooked to help singles meet in real life at the places they're already going. Event organizers create a private space for their event where guests can see who's single or open to meeting β before and during the event.
The goal is simple: make it easier to walk up and say hi.
We launched Hooked with several event organizers and immediately started seeing what happens when people finally know who's open to meeting. Conversations started faster, people stayed longer, and strangers who never would have spoken actually connected.
That experience became our mission. We want to bring back meeting people in real life.
Real connections, in real life
We want to bring back the magic of meeting someone face to face β at the places you're already going.
